On December 5,2010 we had a class about water safety at Dela Mar Resort in Timoga, Iligan City. The night before, I couldn't sleep.I think it was because of my excitement. For in terms of aquatic activities like swimming in the pool, spring, beaches and even in rivers I am so greedy. As I remember, I got Asleep at 12:05 in the early morning. Then, the problem is that I have to wake up as early as 5:00 in the morning. And it was for me to wake up int that specific time because usually I wake up At 6:00 even in the classes day although I have a class at 7:00.
I wake up exactly 5:00 in the morning and I feel so mad, so I just wait the time turns to 5:30. At 5:30, I ready and fix everything, the clothes to wear, the bag to be use, my food for lunch and many more.At exactly 7:00 I arrive at the resort. There, our classmates and our instructors waiting.Later in I become a part of the waiting jury.
At 8:00, the activity has formally started. The instructors separated the swimmers and the non-swimmers. I prefer to join the non-swimmers and we are grouped into four groups. I was in the group to which is majority are girls. And telling you frankly I was the only boy in the group. What I did is just approved everything.
As the activity go on, I learn new techniques in swimming like supine float, the entries like slide, step in, dive, and stride entry. But I felt difficult in the supine float because I it is hard to master and sometimes I get panic. Shall we say I have lack of confidence. And it was so embarrassing because some of my group mates did it will and they were girls. While me a boy cannot master it. But I decided not to stop rehearsing even the rays of the sun becomes hotter. After a half hour of rehearsal, I finally master it and I was happy and proud to myself.
After the lunch, the biggest challenge has arrived. We need to jump on the 16 ft. pool from the jumping board. But still I am so lucky that I don't have an acrophobia which is the fear of height and hydrophobia which is the fear of water. At first, I admit that I feel nervous on that particular time. Because jumping in that particular jumping board was so fearful even I don't have that kind of phobias it is still makes my bare foot to tremble. As I climb to the stairs going up to the board , the feeling is mixed. Somewhat a feeling of excitement and nervousness. But when I jumped and my feet feels the body of the pool, amazingly it was so fantastic. And I fell into the water, I automatically remembered that things that I learned in the activity that is to stay calm and use the swimming techniques I've learn. And I felt pity to them, some are crying, some are nearly drowned but nothing to be worried because we have our instructor who are members of the Philippine Life Saver.
I consider it as my favorite escapee for I learned something on that time which is the self confidence, staying calm, and trust my self. And one thing more, I observed that everything is so hard when we see it, but when we something on it and strive for it, there we can discover the beauty and the art of it.
